Meet Dr. David A. Zainey

A board-certified physician and U.S. Air Force veteran, Dr. David A. Zainey was born into a military family at the United States Military Academy West Point in New York. He grew up in Beavercreek, Ohio, while his family was stationed at nearby Wright-Patterson Air Force Base.

Dr. Zainey graduated from Wright State University in Dayton with a bachelor of science in biology and chemistry in 1979, and received his doctor of medicine degree from WSU’s School of Medicine in 1983.

As a member of the U.S. Air Force, Dr. Zainey completed a pediatric residency program offered through Wright-Patterson AFB and Dayton Children’s Medical Center in 1986. His medical experience in the Air Force included general medical, primary pediatrics, family practice teaching, and war readiness. After his military service, Dr. Zainey went into private practice in Springfield, Ohio, specializing in primary care pediatrics – where he remained for nearly 30 years.

In 2015, Dr. Zainey began transitioning to the practice of integrative medicine, desiring to deliver high-quality holistic medical care to adults and children. He founded InteCare Medical Clinic in 2018, offering patients evidence-based medical and complementary therapies, including state of Ohio medical marijuana evaluations and recommendations.

At InteCare Medical Clinic, Dr. Zainey performs comprehensive consultations and works with his patients to develop practical, results-oriented treatment plans – that empower those in his care to take control of their health and better manage their medical conditions. He has also gained extensive treatment expertise with medical marijuana and is certified by the state of Ohio to perform evaluations and make recommendations.

- Visit a certified physician who can confirm that you have a qualifying condition for medical marijuana. The physician will create your profile in the Patient & Caregiver Registry.

- Confirm and complete your registration for the program through the Patient & Caregiver Registry

Q HOW DO I REGISTER AS A CAREGIVER IN THE OHIO MEDICAL MARIJUANA CONTROL PROGRAM AND RECEIVE MY CAREGIVER CARD?

- A patient must indicate to a certified physician that they are electing you to serve as a caregiver for them. The physician will then create your profile in the Patient & Caregiver Registry. If the patient is a minor, they must have a caregiver.

- Confirm and complete your registration for the program through the Patient & Caregiver Registry. NOTE: Caregiver registration will be activated after approval by the Board of Pharmacy.

Q IF I AM APPLYING AS A PATIENT WITH VETERAN OR INDIGENT STATUS, HOW WILL MY FEE REDUCTION BE APPLIED?

Individuals seeking to qualify for a reduced registration fee due to a special status should not submit payment for their registration fee until their status, or the status of the patient they are associated with, is approved by the Board of Pharmacy.

The registration fee will be reduced once the Board receives necessary documentation and approves the special status. The Board will not issue any refunds for registration fees paid before special status approval.
